The 70’s were certainly a hey day for Possession films. After classics like Rosemary’s Baby, The Exorcist and later The Omen, the inevitable cash
ins came thick & fast. Here is one such example that borrows a lot plot wise from Rosemary’s Baby (and hints of The Omen which came after it),
while visually it looks like it’s trying to take on The Exorcist at its own game.
Jessica (Juliet Mills) & Gabriele Lavia (Robert Barrett - Deep Red, Inferno, Zeder) are a normal couple with 2 foul mouthed kids (one of which is also
the little boy in Mario Bavas Shock AKA Beyond The Door 2). Jessica soon discovers that she is pregnant with a third child, but something is
wrong. The child inside her is growing at a rapid rate, and Jessica is starting to act strangely herself, talking in deep voices, throwing up blood (and
pea soup) and other weird shit.
Not to mention the strange bloke called Dimtri (Richard Johnson, who was also in Fulci’s Zombie) who keeps following Robert Barrett around. We
learn however that Dimitri has some sort of a deal with the devil going on and he wants Jessica’s child, who itself is the spawn of Satan and is
possessing Jessica through the Womb!!
Whilst not being a lost “classic” like I have read from other places, it is still a fairly good film. And not a total Exorcist clone either, for one thing is,
there is not one priest in the whole thing!! They just seemed to have borrowed various elements and glued them to Rosemary’s Baby! There are
some very interesting visuals, and in camera effects happening, especially the “eyeball” scene and the door that disappears and then reappears.
Speaking of door’s, the title certainly has me fucked. This has nothing to do with doors! The original Italian title is Chi Sei?, which roughly
translates to Who Are You? This after viewing one scene in particular makes more sense to me
The whole show has a real dreamlike quality to it (think Fulci’s The Beyond), but plods along a bit. The story seems like it could have done with a
bit more work too. Some things just are not explained enough, or not used to there full potential. However all in all a good time waster that is fairly
enjoyable, but it’s not the best Exorcist rip off out there (That honor goes to The Antichrist).
I have no details of a DVD release at this point in time but it seems weird that it does not have one yet. This seems to be a fairly rare flick, so if you
see a copy of it, grab it!
"Beyond this door the most terrifying event in the history of mankind is about to occur!"

Jessica (Mills) is eagerly expecting her third child - but her anticipation soon gives way to fear and horror. The fetus within her is maturing at an unnaturally fast rate, and she is possessed by strange thoughts and outbursts. It soon becomes evident that evil is at work. Jessica is trapped inside her own body, which has been taken over by satanic forces as the birth of her child nears. Little do Jessica and her family know that her former lover Dimitri (Johnson) may be at the very center of these terrible events!
