Gas prices are scorching to a record high, no one in their right mind is able to afford to pay $40 a gallon. Cars, trucks and lawnmowers are now a
faded memory, though Archie Andrews (Mike Brune) a pre-school teacher is working on creating an alternate fuel source at home. Archie being a
vegan, is determined to make his car run off of wheat grass if its the last thing he does, even if it means he puts his blood, sweat and tears into it,
and blood he does. One late night Archie accidentally cuts his hand while working on his experiment and several drops fall into the tank and
causes the small machine to run wild. YES he has finally done it, he is now Mr popular and the hottest women Denise (Katie Rowlett) wants to
make out with him. Not yet realizing what comes with the good comes with the bad, Archie has to find ways of feeding his car, and killing little fury
stray animals isn't filling up the tank and he has to find other ways of getting more blood.
Blood Car is basically a few age version Little Shop of Horrors, though drop all the singing, and a talking man eating plant and replace it with a
bloodthirsty car, then you have Blood Car. Filmmaker Alex Orr takes us on one hell of a weird warped ride, that will leave you scratching your
head, wondering what the hell is this film about, then it hits you. The message is strong with the War in Iraq and oil and the amount of innocent
blood that has been split just for the sake of oil, just so we can drive our fat asses in our cars to work, back home and out and about. And the
length our governments will go, just to fuel the world while making a bundle of cash out of the deal, it’s happening now people and we are also
feeding off of the system. OK now just say, if we had cars that ran on blood, would you kill someone just to go on a date? Would you slaughter
someone just so you can go down to the pub for a beer with ya mates?. A life for a tank of fuel, could you really do it? Well guess what we are
already doing. The next time you fill up your car, think of all the innocent civilians killed, and soldiers who go to Iraq that are day to day being shot,
bombed and even raped by our money hungry fat pocket governments.
Though on the other lighter side of the film, its an absurd horror comedy that is willing to do just about anything to get his dick wet.
Actor Mike Brune definitely gives the film a solid performance right throughout the film, even if it means his character has to get fisted in the ass
with butter as a lube, being pissed on by Denise, well…. by god damn its going to be a awesome film. Actress Katie Rowlett also does a remarkable
job with her character, even if it means blowing Archie while he drives his car, getting it on in a public toilet, shagging the shit out in the car at the
local drive inn, well then his bird definitely the two thumbs up and a semi hard-on from me. But honestly I can’t fault anyone in this film, great cast
for a great film..
Their isn’t really any gore at all, though you do in fact get tones and tones of good old blood splatter. With a boot of a car being a huge mobile
blender, well you can’t go wrong with that..
Blood Car stinks of independent cinema when it comes to the acting and the way it was shot, but least the film is original in some ways, bloody,
slightly disturbing to watch at times with a dark side of comedy humour thrown into it for good value entertainment. You have to at least check this
film out one day, even if it means buying it on DVD or renting it from your local DVD store. It comes highly recommended by us at DVD
Resurrections, and it gets a 7 out of 10...
"SAVE GAS... DRIVE A BLOOD CAR"

A kindergarten teacher invents a car that runs on human blood to combat high gas prices in Blood Car, a horror/comedy from first time director Alex Orr. In the first feature film from Fake Wood Wallpaper Films, narrative conventions and predictable, by-the-book plotlines are left behind in favor of an absurdist look at a future in which no one drives due to $40-a-gallon gasoline prices. Both a satire on our voracious habit for oil as well as a cleverly structured horror film, Blood Car will make you cringe and laugh at the same time.
