Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) is just about to have his birthday, and all he wants is a “Good Guy” doll to play with. Andy’s mom, Karen (Catherine
Hicks), who works an endless job seven days a week, hasn’t been able to afford to buy Andy what he wants, until one day her friend Maggie
(Dinah Manoff) spots a homeless guy with a Good Guy doll that is half the retail price. Karen  doesn’t hesitate and she buys the doll in a heart beat
from the homeless guy, just in time for  Andy’s birthday. But this doll isn’t like any other Good Guy doll, it talks, it walks and it can kill. This one
“special” doll has been possessed by the notorious Lakeside Strangler, Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif). Ray, as Chucky, finds out how to transfer his
soul from one body to another by some type of ancient voodoo spell he gets from a guy called Dr. Death (Raymond Oliver) before he murders him.
Chicago detective Mike Norris (Chris Sarandon) had been tracking down Charles Lee Ray right until the same night he transferred his soul into the
Good Guy doll, unaware of what exactly had happened detective Mike Norris closed the case. As soon as Andy gets the doll, bad shit starts to
happen, and the only way Charles Lee Ray can get out of the doll is to transfer his soul into the body of the person he first told his secret to, which
was Andy, or he will remain in the doll’s body for eternity.

Man this is coolest doll killing movie ever. I think everyone who grew up in the 80’s would have seen this film at some point in their life. If you
haven’t seen it yet, well stop reading this review and go out and buy it on DVD and watch it, trust me you will be hunting for the rest of the series
on DVD soon after. What isn’t there to love about this movie, it’s got a cool walking and talking serial killer doll that swears and kicks ass!
Child’s
Play
is one of the best horror movies of the   1980’s and even still to this present day. It has a well written script from writer Don Mancini and
terrific acting from all the cast. Director Tom Holland did an extraordinary job in shooting
Child’s Play and keeps the movie moving at a fast
entertaining pace, and no other director could have done a better job. Even Chucky himself is a legendary character, and is right up there with all
the other big known horror slashers (Freddy, Jason, Michael, Leatherface and Pinhead) and still kickin’ ass each series.
Child’s Play is one film that
you will never get bored of watching, no matter how many times you’ve seen it.
