A computer genius/ex-hacker Terell Lessor (Eugene Byrd) returns to New York in an attempt to find a new job. Unfortunately he faces his old
business partner who cheated him in the past by stealing his software and making millions off of it. Terell begins personal revenge schemes by
placing spy cams within offices, recording those he targets to get to the truth behind large corporations. He then computer edits the video
footage and audio and he broadcasts it over the internet on a popular website. Terell soon meets up with a young attractive blonde woman
named Olivia (Ali Larter) who is a Columbia grad student who teams up with Terell to take down CEOs, politicians and anyone who represents the
worst in a work place establishment. It doesn't take long until Terell makes the front page of New York Times, and becomes classed as a terrorist
when he begins to abduct and get those to confess secrets and their true feelings on video. Before Terell knows it, copycat extremists begin to
post their video clips of the same style and nature, even as going as far as murder and torture. This causes the violence to exceed an all time
high in New York. When Terell becomes a wanted man and every law enforcement officer and the FBI is out to hunt him down, he has to make a
decision whether to run or turn himself in…
I wasn’t sure what to think of this film at first, but in this day and age and the use of the internet, it shows you that even in your own home where
you think you are safe, your actually not. Hackers getting into your computer, stealing valuable info, watching your every move with your webcam,
and stealing your identity in a flick of a switch.
This is director Stefan Schaefer's first feature film, and for a first timer the film is very well written and he picked an awesome cast to play in
Confess. Those who don't know who Eugene Byrd is, well he has starred in the film 8 Mile, and many TV shows such as Heroes, Night Stalker,
Crossing Jordan and even as far back as Sesame Street in the early 1980's. This was also Eugene's first attempt on taking the lead role in a film,
which he did a rather good job at, but I just wish his character had more lines and was given the chance to entertain us like he did in 8 Mile.
Actress Ali Larter who is now very well known in Hollywood and throughout the world, since appearing in the number one hit TV show Heroes, didn’
t have much of a role in Confess, it’s sad to say. I wish that we got to see a bit more of her in Confess as I have been a bit of a fan of Ali Larter
ever since I saw her star in Final Destination and then appear in the sequel Final Destination 2 three years later, oh and not to mention Jay and
Silent Bob Strike Back as an evil Charlie’s Angel diamond thief. But most of all Ali is going to appear in the new film Resident Evil: Extinction as
video game character Claire Redfield, so move over jubbie lips Angelina Jolie and make way for Ali Larter..
If you are looking for a good thriller that has a strong message about Internet hackers, well this is the movie you want to check out. Thanks to our
sponsor MTI Entertainment, they have released this film on DVD as region 0, which means no matter what country you live in this DVD will play on
any DVD player. Honestly I ain't too sure on the extra department of this DVD, cause the DVD I reviewed was a screener and it only had the
featurette film and a trailer of Confess.
