Two beer swilling rednecks Bubba (Adam Brown) and Cooter (Patrick Pitu) decide to dump a barrel of toxic waste into a near by lagoon. A year
later a group of science students from the state university are sent in to test the water for any signs of contamination. While in the water an
unknown creature bites a students arm whilst he is playing a prank on one of the girls, as they try to work. The group is annoyed by the way he
is acting- he passes off the bite mark as a scratch and doesn't think too much of the incident. Until… later that following night a few miles down
stream, a mutant half fish and half man (played by Ben Chester), swims the murky waters of the dark lagoon, and is also able to walk the forests
searching for anything or anyone to sink its sharp razor blade teeth into. Unfortunately two local fishermen, who like to use dynamite as bait, are
the first to come head to head with the unstoppable blood thirsty creature. That’s until the local incestuous, jealous, Sheriff Clay (William DeCoff)
who is accompanied by the two idiots who started the whole mess, and his daughter Bobby-Sue (Leigh Radziwon), comes onto the scene in search
to find the two missing men, but is left with two unidentified carcasses with the flesh picked clean from its bones. Guns locked and loaded, the
creature appears before their eyes and grabs Bubba's friend who fights back in a fit of rage to live. Three shots into the thick dense bush don’t
stop the creature it only delays its appetite. The Sheriff who is never late for supper, is determined to get down to the bottom of this case by
slowly making his way up stream to the university students cabin, unaware the creature is following their every move and in hopes to find the
shocking truth behind the creatures evolution or the purpose of the creation.
Shock O Rama has finally released another block busting classic: Creature from the Hillbilly Lagoon on DVD. This film pays homage with a bit of
tongue in cheek adult humour, to yet another creature feature classic from the early 80's, that I happen to worship and love to death, called
Humanoids from the Deep. Though Creature from the Hillbilly Lagoon has a low budget quality feel to the film, the creature’s costume is
surprisingly freakish looking and more detailed than the creatures from Humanoids from the Deep. The dialogue is of course adult related and
contains good amounts of nudity, tasteless adult jokes, homosexuality and of course incestuous behaviour but not at all to be taken seriously to
heart, only in a comedy manner, which makes the film more enjoyable to watch. And by the way Humanoids from the Deep fans, you are probably
wondering if these creatures do rape women in this film? Well let’s face the facts- it isn’t a good creature feature without some poor bugger
getting raped by a mutant half fish and half man… right?
The cast members all done an outstanding job, and the one guy I got to give a standing applause to is actor Adam Brown, who played the
character Bubba- who is a lazy, beer swilling, good for nothing, mouth running, fat slob. This guy had me in stitches right through the whole entire
film, and when you think you will never see him again, well he appears as a narrator for the film in the deleted scenes in the extras. Another actor
who I enjoyed on screen is William DeCoff who stars as the incestuous Sheriff Clay, his performance was incredible and he took his character to a
whole new level, with Adam by his side, and these two guys will have your stomachs busting open with laughter. DeCoff not only took on the role
as a talented actor, but also as the films fight choreographer, stuntman and helped with the co-casting. So, if you’re ever looking for an actor to
help you take a load off your feet, check out William DeCoff.
The gore factor of this film is borderline for me. It can be at times a tad cheesy and then again extreme for a low budget film. You will see many
scenes containing throats chewed out, flesh torn away from limbs, a decapitation, the creatures hand rammed through someone’s stomach and a
few more disturbing scenes I won’t spoil for you. But overall, Creature from the Hillbilly Lagoon is everything a horror fan wants to see in a film.
On the DVD extras we have Bubba, appearing as a narrator in the deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage, an audio commentary with Director
Richard Griffen, producer Ted Marr, actor William DeCoff and Don Foley and it wouldn’t be a Shock O Rama DVD without the famous trailer vault.
Creature from the Hillbilly Lagoon is a region 0 disc, which means it will play on any DVD player in the world. So no fears in this awesome DVD not
playing on your DVD Player, she is all set up for you.
Overall we at DVD Resurrections gives this film both thumbs up and highly recommends this amazing DVD to all those who enjoy watching creature
feature films from the 1950's and those who are Humanoids from the Deep fans. This is one film you don't want to miss out on, and a must own in
every mutant creature feature fans DVD collection. So buy this film right now, before someone you know ruins the whole film for you.

There's something big and something hungry living in the still, murky depths of secluded Hillbilly Lagoom... and it walks on land.
Following a toxic spill, science students from the state university are sent in to test the waters for contamination. They are immediately set upon by insane and inbred locals, who don't take kindly to strangers nosing about their town and beloved lagoon. But that's the least of their worries when a hulking humanoid borne of radioactive mutation ascends from the inky blackness to fill in lungs with air and its stomach with human bait.
