A group of old college friends decide to catch up by spending the weekend in a remote cabin by a lakeside deep in the woods. They begin to settle
in and start to reminisce about their days in college. While knocking back a few beers, one of the girls decides to play a game by daring someone
to go into the bathroom and look into the mirror and say "Dead Mary" three times. The following night their lives begin to slowly change and their
deepest darkest secrets are unleashed as well as the evil spirit of Dead Mary, who begins to possess the bodies of the college kids in a bid to
turn them all against each other.
That's right kiddies, you have seen or heard shit like this before. Dead Mary is basically a bunch of other older horror movies such as Cabin Fever,
Candyman, Phantoms and Evil Dead all thrown into one film, seriously I ain't shitting you. The "Dead Mary" game is exactly like the "Bloody
Mary" game you would of least played at one time in your life when growing up. But I do kind of give props to this film! I know it sounds bad and
all, but this film is kind of cool to watch. As you know in other films once they repeat the name three times, the person appears and so starts the
movie, well in this case the first person is quickly possessed by Dead Mary, and begins to fit back into the group of friends like nothing ever
happened. Slowly the movie begins to pick up and Mary tries to possess not just one but more of the friends and the shit gets real interesting
cause sooner or later those who are possessed or killed return as zombified deadites "possessed dead people", who can also hold down a good
conversation before ripping your heart out of your chest.
The acting if fairly enjoyable to watch and wont bore the shit out of you. Dead Mary is very well shot, and the lighting and atmosphere suits the
film. Even the special effects and CGI were outstanding and raised the entertainment level tremendously and not to mention that the killing
scenes, are very brutal and intense when viewing, it definitely put a smile on my dial.
Overall Dead Mary isn't a fresh or new film, and you will sometimes feel like you are re-watching a horror film you have seen before. I doubt this
film will ever get to stand out of these other films shadows, or even have a spotlight of its own. Dead Mary is a film you will most likely want to
rent before buying on DVD, but I have a feeling you will enjoy watching this film with a few friends one weekend. So why not give it a go one night,
