Three miners notice a deep hidden cave and decide to inspect the cave to see what lays within it. As they enter into the cave, they begin to hear
strange growling noises behind them. Just as they are about to leave they are attacked by an entity. Several hours later we see the three men,
getting on with their lives "like nothing happened" one, a father who is watching a soccer game on the TV, another is at the soccer game with his
friend and the last is at a nightclub with his annoying girlfriend. All three men, begin to have headaches, followed by a taste for human flesh, as
they begin to attack and feed upon anyone close by them. As soon as they bite into a victim that person becomes instantly infected in seconds
and also turns into a flesh eating zombie, infecting all the citizens Athens. Only a handful of survivors struggle to fight for their lives, and try to
find a way out of the city before they too become infected by the zombies.
Independent filmmaker Yorgos Noussias's Evil (aka To Kako) is surprisingly the first ever zombie movie to come out of Greece. I am truly amazed
to see such awesome gore and bloodshed from this young upcoming director. Evil is one of the most entertaining and crazed films I have seen
since Gary Ugarek's Deadlands: The Rising. Though Evil does show early Peter Jackson's Brain Dead and Bad Taste with a story line kind of
similar in a lot of ways to UK director Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later. But you can’t really hold his against Yorgos Noussias, cause Evil is one fucking
kickass gore fest of a film.
Evil is a film that hasn't got too much of a story line to it, it’s basically about a bunch of people running away from zombies and trying not to be on
the zombie menu. When it comes to the gore factor, yeah no doubt Evil knocks the ball out of the ballpark for sure. There are enough shotgun
head explosions, intestines chewing, zombie decapitations and impalements, and eyeballs being ripped out with forks. Evil is nothing but a gut
wrenching blood soaked splat fest that will give any gore hound something to jack off too.
The acting on the other hands is somewhat interesting and boring at times. Evil isn't just your full blown gore fest horror film, it has a bit of
comedy thrown into the mix for your enjoyment, so zombie horror fans don't take this film too seriously because its not meant to be taken
seriously. Each of the cast did a tremendous job with their character, the character I liked the most was the taxi driver, who's soul purpose is to
try and get some pussy before he gets torn to shreds by the undead. Just wait until you see how he reacts when a zombie cuts him out of the
deal, fucking funny but sick scene.
The only downfall of the film is that its not yet dubbed in English so you have to read while you watch the film. Yeah I know I am one of those lazy
fuckers, who hate to read while they watch something wicked. I would have found Evil much more enjoyable if it had been dubbed in English,
who knows it might just happen one day, and if it does I will let you know that's for sure.
Those who love films like Bad Taste and Brain Dead, and don’t mind watching a zombie infected film like 28 Days Later, are definitely going to
enjoy watching and owning Yorgos Noussias's Evil.
I highly recommend you right now purchase this film, cause the gore alone is outstanding to watch. So buy this on DVD right now before someone
you know will spoil the whole movie for you.
