Jason Voorhees (C.J. Graham) has been dead for a number of years now, Tommy Jarvis (Thom Mathews - Return of the Living Dead, Kickboxer 4:
The Aggressor
) still haunted by memories of this once unstoppable masked monster (Friday the 13th The Final Chapter) decides to visit Jason’s
grave one stormy dark night, dig up his body and look into the face of the killer who murdered his mother (Joan Freeman -
Warhead) in cold blood
and nearly took his sister Trish’s (Kimberly Beck -
Massacre at Central High) and his own life (played by Corey Feldman - The Lost Boys, The
Goonies
). As he stares at Jason’s maggot infested corpse he begins having flashbacks of that traumatic night, bursts into a fit of rage and
unleashes his anger by stabbing Jason’s decayed corpse with a steel fence pole. Tommy then exits the grave site leaving the pole sticking into
Jason’s chest. A lighting bolt then hits the pole and brings the masked monster back to life. Tommy quickly flees the cemetery in his truck, while
Jason who is more unstoppable than ever slowly works his way back home to Crystal Lake (now titled Forrest Green) while leaving a massive long
trail of dead bodies along his way.

The
Friday the 13th series is one of the most successful slasher series of all time managing to spin off a good solid 12 sequels and more recently a
prequel/remake in 2009. The thing I love the most about this particular sequel is that Jason is no longer human, instead he has become a
zombified serial killer. Yes we all know the zombie genre, its all about the dead coming back to life and feeding on human flesh or eating brains
right? Well director/writer Tom McLoughlin puts a whole new spin on the series and I guess you can say resurrects Jason for us
Friday the 13th
fans to once again enjoy the carnage this killer brings as Jason goes back to his old habits and slaughters every poor son of a bitch he comes
across.

Here’s a fact people probably don’t know, this release was going to be the first to shed light on who Jason Voorhees actual father was. A question
many hardcore
Friday the 13th fans having been dying to know since the birth of the series. Well for those who don’t know, a scene was filmed of
Jason’s tombstone right beside his mother Pamela Voorhees tombstone. If you can remember in A New Beginning; the Mayor states “why he
wasn't cremated” opening the door to who then actually paid for 2 tombstones? The scene would show the cemetery groundskeeper to be Jason’s
actual father as he is visiting Jason‘s grave, knowing Jason isn’t inside the coffin. These scenes were actually filmed, but then soon cut out;
however, they did make it to the film's novel in 1986 by Simon Hawke.

Apart from seeing this series start up again we are now introduced to another Jason Voorhees actor/stuntman named C.J. Graham. For those of
you who don’t know who this guy actually is, well you’re not the only one. Turns out this was his first ever acting role, later on he appeared in
Highway to Hell (1991) as the hell cop. And it’s a damn pity this actor didn’t do anymore of this series, because I rather enjoyed his work in this
film. Most of all I did get the impression that it was Kane Hodder playing the role. It wasn’t until I double checked with IMDB.com that I realised
Hodder didn’t play Jason until the following sequel. With ignoramus size, strength and power, Graham created a new, unstoppable masked killer
and I believe set the bar for the likes of Kane Hodder to do even better. Actor Thom Mathews lands the role as Tommy Jarvis who defeated Jason
Voorhees in
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) which was played by a young Corey Feldman. Mathews did a fantastic job with his role in
this film, though being a huge fan of
The Return of the Living Dead (1985) I was waiting for him to start screaming out “Brains!”

The body count is pretty high in this sequel. So prepare yourselves to watch Jason rip out hearts, tear arms torn off bodies, many impalements,
throats slit open, heads crushed into walls and Jason going on a machete rampage. Amazingly some of the death scenes were actually toned
down as producer Frank Mancuso, Jr. argued with director Tom McLoughlin, fearing that the MPAA would never give the movie an R rating. Though
the one thing that all Friday the 13th movies have in common is that when it comes to the death scenes, they always manage to outdo what had
come before.

This release I reviewed is pretty lame when it comes to the DVD extras. All you get to see if a Teaser Trailer and that’s it. But meanwhile the DVD is
chock-a-block with other audio languages and subtitles. Less of this other shit and more extras next time please Paramount.

The score is definitely a bonus in this sequel, as this time the soundtrack has the likes of Alice Cooper performing tracks “He's Back (The Man
Behind the Mask)” (had an accompanying music video, combining clips from the film with new footage featuring Cooper, to view this clip please do a
search at YouTube) and “Teenage Frankenstein” from his album Constrictor. Cooper’s track “Hard Rock Summer” is taken from the box set The Life
and Crimes of Alice Cooper. Sadly for soundtrack or Alice Cooper collectors a “
Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives” official soundtrack has never
been made available for sale.

Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives is probably my favourite one of the series when it comes to the zombified Jason Voorhees. Though it does
raise the question why the hell would Tommy want to dig up Jason’s grave many years later. Honestly who cares, if you look for questions on
what, why or how… then it’s just going to annoy you to the point you’re not going to enjoy the movie. So kick back, knock down a cold one and
enjoy watching Jason wreak havoc in the kill scenes as they are 100% hardcore, the gore is sweet and most of the entire movie was entertaining
and different compared to the previous releases. Well worth buying on DVD or even renting, either way you got to check out this one.

As a child, Tommy Jarvis did what many others died trying to do. He killed Jason Voorhees, the mass
murderer who terrorized the residents of Crystal Lake. But now, years later, Tommy is tormented by
the fear that maybe Jason isn't really dead. So Tommy and a friend go to the cemetery to dig up Jason's
grave. Unfortunately for Tommy (and very unfortunately for his friend), instead of finding a rotten
corpse, they discover a well rested Jason who comes back from the dead for another bloody rampage
in
Friday The 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives.
