Way back in the dark ages (well 1971 to be exact) Director Don Schain made a cheap & nasty sexploitation action/spy film starring his then wife
Cherri Caffaro (who is pretty damn easy on the eyes!) as
Ginger, super sexy, super spy extraordinaire. Made on a miniscule budget the film was a
drive-in & grindhouse hit, and prompted two sequels, but more on them a bit later…

GINGER

The first in the series gives us our introduction to rich little tease named Ginger (1971), who, wanting some excitement in her life, wants to do
some work as an undercover spy.
Ginger hooks up with an agency that sends her on her first mission, to weed out a gang heavily involved in drug
trafficking, blackmail & prostitution.

Using her sexual prowess to first get involved with a member of the gang she builds guys up to the point of orgasm and gets them to spill there
guts! But when
Ginger befriends a local drug addicted girl, who is supplied by the gang, and the girl turns up dead on the beach, things get a bit
more personal!

For being the first film in the series, it is also the weakest. To be fair, obviously it had a lower budget than the two that followed, but is also a good
way of introducing the viewers to the style of the films, and also to show what the next two installments would end up having more of! There is a
fair bit of female flesh on display, a little bit of bondage, and a fairly sleazy attitude. However, it suffers from a rather weak plot and periods of
inactivity. If you plan to watch the whole series start here, if you only want to watch one of the films, I suggest you check out the next installment.

THE ABDUCTORS

Ginger is back! The year is 1972 and cheerleaders & models are going missing in a small town. Ginger is teamed up with another hot undercover
female agent (Carter, played by Laurie Rose, from the adult version of
Jekyll & Hyde) to get to the bottom of these kidnappings. Ginger seduces a
photographer into taking some photos of Carter and getting them printed in the hope that the kidnappers will take the bait and show where their
hideout is, as Carter swallowed some radar pills!

When Carter is kidnapped, Ginger goes to save her but is in turn is taken hostage herself, and finds out that the kidnappers are actually working
as part of a pretty big white slave trade racket! Can
Ginger and Carter stop the kidnappers before they are sold off as well?

As far as sequels go, this is one of those occasions where the second installment shits all over the first! Every seedy aspect of the first film has
been increased ten-fold here! More full frontal nudity, a lot more sleaziness and a fucking hell of a lot more action! Where the first film seemed to
drag a little, this one really grabs you by balls from before the opening credits and does not let go until the end credits roll down! Independent
sexploitation cinema at its best!

GIRLS ARE FOR LOVING

After being extremely surprised by how The Abductors (1972) turned out to be an excellent film, I was quite eager to check out the third and final
entry into the series right away.

Girls Are For Loving (1973) sees Ginger back by herself again, with a little help from the Virgin Islands Police Force, after two diplomats are taken
hostage by a rich female criminal mastermind (Ronnie St. Clair, played by Jocelyn Peters), who attempts to blackmail them into divulging secret
stock market tips. However
Ginger has finally met her match with Ronnie as both women are very similarly sexually driven masterminds, and its
going to take all their powers to defeat each other.

The third installment definitely has the highest budget of the three films, and it really shows in the locations the film was shot in. Beautiful oceanic
views all around! The film itself isn’t a bad follow up either! Not quite on the same sleaze level as
The Abductors, this is still a typical early 70’s
sexploitation film with a fair helping of nudity and sleaze.

All Three films have finally made it onto DVD courtesy of Monterey Media, available either separately or as a three pack. The films themselves are
pretty good films, even though they are low-ish budget with some exceedingly cheesy dialogue and atrocious excuses for acting, and are a very
good way to get into the sexploitation spy films that followed after this (namely Angel Of H.E.A.T. with Marilyn Chambers, and Christina with Jewel
Shepard) and a far more enjoyable viewing experience than those two films as well.

The DVDs themselves are bit crappy though. Full screen transfers, basic sound and fuck all in the way of extras (except for a few photo galleries).
Special Edition versions of these films would be really nice as I would like to hear what both Cherri Caffaro & Don Schain have to say about the
films.

For lovers of 70’s drive-in trash this collection definitely worth grabbing. For casual fans, I would recommend doing a bit more research to find out if
this is for you as the box set is a tad pricey at $45 from Amazon.com, considering the discs are pretty much bare bones affairs with a fairly average
transfer.
