On the night of Halloween in 1963 the Haddonfield local police station respond to a 911 call, to find a 17 year old girl named Judith Myers brutally
murdered in her own bedroom by her 6 year old brother Michael Myers. Fifteen years later as the memories of that sadistic terrify trick or treat
night and the whispering lips of the name Michael Myers begin to fade. That is until Michael Myers (Tony Moran) escapes from the Smith's Grove
Sanatorium surprisingly just one day before Halloween and goes back home to 43 Lampkin Lane. A psychiatrist named Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald
Pleasence) who has been treating Michael since that murderous night, fears that the town's people and children of Haddonfield are in great
danger as Michael begins to stalk a 17 year old teenager named Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) while leaving a hidden trail of dead teenager
bodies in the neighbourhood.

Back in 1978 co-writer/director John Carpenter created one of the most scariest, skin crawling, Slasher horror films of all time, this movie was called
Halloween. What inspired Carpenter to create Halloween in the first place was after watching another slasher film titled Black Christmas (1974)
which was directed by Bob Clark. When comparing both films side by side you can actually pick up how very similar both films have in common with
each other. You have a killer that escapes a mental institution and then is hiding in a house, both films are done on a holiday season, and the
killers are always hidden away in the dark shadows of the house. But in this case Carpenter did one thing that Clark didn't do, which I believe
made Halloween a huge hit was that he bought the killer out of the dark so the audience could see him. By doing this Carpenter still needed to
keep the scare factor at the highest level possible which is why the pale white mask comes in. With a 6ft 2, mask wearing psycho killer who
slaughters everyone who catches a glimpse sideways at him,  Michael pulls out the biggest household knife the butcher knife, instantly Carpenter
knew that there was no chance of stopping this killing machine. Halloween was able to go on and make not one or two sequels but right up to
eight sequels where the legend Michael Myers just keeps coming back over and over again. Even film-maker/musician Rob Zombie decided to play
tribute to this film by creating his own version of
Halloween (2007) and allowing us to get a much deeper look into the history and the reason
why Michael Myers became Haddonfield's notorious killer, which you can say is a modern day pre/sequel of the original version.

Carpenter couldn't have picked a better leading actress to take the role of Laurie Strode in Halloween, actress Jamie Lee Curtis finally got her big
break at acting when appearing in Halloween and many other films that Carpenter created. In 1980 Curtis had the chance to show off her good
talent by landing the leading role in another John Carpenter film called
The Fog (1980), which opened the door to her career as soon began to
appear in movies such as
Prom Night (1980) and Terror Train (1980) before re-appearing a year later in the sequel called Halloween II: The
Nightmare Isn't Over! (1981)
. But that doesn't stop this young beautiful bombshell exploding on the big screen in the Halloween series 20 years
later once again Jamie appears in the
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) as Laurie Strode / Keri Tate as a mother / headmaster of a
boarding school. Just when you think you won’t see Jamie any more, bang she appears in
Halloween: Resurrection (2002) but surprisingly her
character is finally killed off. I personally am a huge fan of Jamie Lee Curtis and I can’t fault this actress one bit, but it did get on my nerves that
they keep bringing back Jamie's character over and over again, after a while it became very stale. Actor Donald Pleasence also nailed his role in
Halloween, as he too appeared in several Halloween sequels before passing away in 1995 due to complications from a heart valve replacement
whilst in surgery. I got to hand it too actor Tony Moran who played the very first Michael Myers, to this very day out of all the Halloween movies,
Moran performance and the way he captured the killers stance, walk and tilted neck stare is absolutely astounding. Tony Moran will always be the
one and only Michael Myers; and no other Myers actor will ever capture such perfection as this slasher.

I do tend to look at Halloween as a psychological horror film, where you don't really need the gore to actually put you on the edge of your seat.
Alfred Hitchcock was a prime example of this type of film making, where he makes the viewer to scare them selves on many an occasions
throughout the movie. And as John Carpenter who clearly pays his respects to Hitchcock and Clark, Halloween without a doubt is one of the most
unforgettable slasher films of all times and will go on sending goose bumps over peoples skin generation after generation.

There's no doubt you probably own this DVD release already in your collection. Though if you happen to not own this cult classic on DVD well I
highly recommend you purchase this release right now and prepare to watch it on Halloween. This movie will surely scare the be-Jesus out of
those who don't really like to watch horror movies that much, but for those whom are dedicated to watching horror movies well this is a good
satisfying trip down horror lane.
