"Six contestants... Three Slashers...
No prisoners!"
Slashers
DVD/APPROX. 99 MINS/2001/CANADA R18+
Slashers is directed & written by Maurice Devereaux. It is about  6 American candidates appear on a Japan TV show kinda like Big Brother to win 6
Million Dollars but only one person can win this they have to fight & survive from the brutal killers within the studio. The TV Studio has a arena set
up which all 6 candidates fitted with electric dog collars are thrown into the death pit where they are constantly accompanied by a cameraman
which captures all the bloody & brutal killings which is stream out on LIVE TV. The arena is like a fun-house style maze of corridors and weird rooms
that can change anytime, where the 3 killers Kudos, Chainsaw Charlie and the Preacher man can appear & disappear. Even in the commercial
breaks even though the contestants & killers are not allowed to move or be killed, if they do they will be stun by the electric dog collars until the TV
show comes back on air. Chainsaw Charlie is a crack up with his funny 'deep-south' accent, which he makes the character enjoyable to watch.

The special effects for the slashers are ok looking mainly using face masks & a few other props you would find in any costume store. And the arena
looks like it was set up in a indoor paint ball arena which kinda paid off for the movie, and i guess save them a lot of money.
Slashers is a cheesy
movie but it has heaps of laughs & gore moments though out & to the very end. Maurice Devereaux wanted to do a lot more within the film but
was cut back due to studio fighting and licensing issues & by the time he got the go to do his movie the budget wasn't so big anymore. But overall
Slashers is still a cool film to watch, i enjoyed every minute of it & hope this isn't the last we see of Maurice Devereaux. Hope to see Slashers 2
some time down the track.
