Here is a Chinese Cat3 movie which is guaranteed to shock, repulse and disturb anyone that watches it! The Ebola Syndrome stars Anthony
Wong as depraved restaurant worker Kai who pretty much fucks anything that’s living, dying or dead throughout this movie! The movie begins with
Kai’s bosses wife telling her daughter to wait outside whilst they ‘talk’, caught in the act by Kai’s boss and a few heavies he is given a severe
beating and as an apology he blubbers that he will cut his own dick off, just as he is about to Kai stabs his boss in the balls then brutally murders
the heavies and his lover by cutting out her tongue!!, just at this moment Kai catches the daughter watching this and promptly ties her up and
pours petrol all over her (a scene that would surely be banned in Europe) just before she is about to be burnt alive someone walks in and Kai
makes his escape. Kai flees to South Africa, and is a wanted man for 3 murders but he gets a job in a Chinese restaurant again, his new boss’s
wife detests him and she gives him all the dirty jobs to do.
His new boss seems to like Kai and takes him out on a meat run, failing to do a good deal at the local market Kai and his boss drive to a small
village, where unknown to them the Ebola virus is rife, as they get to the village the tribes people are performing a ritual round a pile of dead or
dying bodies, but this doesn’t deter them buying a couple of pigs. On the way back to the restaurant the car breaks down and in a temper Kai
leaves his boss to try and fix the car, Kai spots a woman collapsed on the floor but rather than try to help the woman he rapes her then in her
struggle she pukes the contents of her stomach all over him, infecting him with the Ebola virus.
Kai now becomes a carrier of the Ebola virus, spreading it to anyone he comes in contact with, Working one night in the kitchen Kai hears two
people having sex next door and begins to masturbate, he then jerks off into a piece of meat which is later served as a special cut of meat to an
angry customer!! Later Kai confronts his bosses wife why she always gives him the dirty jobs and ends up raping her, caught again by his boss he
ends up murdering both of them in a brutal fashion, rather than fleeing this time he chops up his victims and serves them up as ‘African Burgers’
spreading the virus to all his customers and pretty much the population of South Africa. Kai later finds his dead bosses safe and with a shit load of
money returns back to Hong Kong for more depraved sessions with prostitutes and one of his ex girlfriends.
The young girl from the start of the film now grown up, whilst on a trip to South Africa recognizes Kai as the murderer of her mother and tries to
convince the police he is the wanted man, its not long before the police connect the murders and the spreader of the Ebola virus to Kai and follow
him back to Hong Kong to try and capture him before he infects anymore people. Kai realizes he’s being chased and sets off on a mad rampage
infecting as many people as he can by spitting or touching people whilst shouting EBOLA!
Whilst its hard to describe this film it really has to be seen to be believed, from the title and cover art you would expect some sort of science fiction
film, Ebola Syndrome is more of a serial killer type flick, the first half of the film mostly deals with Kai’s disgusting murders with his depraved
tendencies plus the spreading of the virus whilst the second is a race against time with the cops to capture Kai. Some of the ideas and scenes in
this film are vile, but whilst it does shock it is done with a lot of black humor, for want of a better work Ebola Syndrome is a very entertaining film
to watch and its one of the better Asian films I’ve seen in some time. Rather than going for shock after shock the film does have quite a good story
line which is well paced the film does appear to have some budget and the change of scenery is welcome, but the film doesn’t have that many big
special effects, it mainly relies on scenes of brutality, there’s even a scene that will upset the R.S.P.C.A as a plate of live frogs is cut up and served
as special frog rice, another scene in the village contains some chickens necks being cut. There are many scenes that will make you either laugh or
puke only the Asians can make films this good!
