Stalking Hand: A Scary Movie
DVD/APPROX. 80 MINS/2005/USA UNRATED
I have always had a leaning towards the movies of the 'B' variety. As a teen I worked in a video shop every Sunday, where I was left alone for
about 5 hours, which was great, as I had the opportunity to work my way through the extensive B catalogue...I don't know why we had so many B
horror and sci fi flicks at that store, and I didn't really care, I just knew that if it was directed by Fred Olen Ray, or had Brinke Stevens in it...I had to
watch it. It seems to me that a lot of these boobs and blood flicks have been disappearing in the new millennium, and some films that SHOULD be
B films try desperately hard to be something more, maybe we need a new classification...A minus films perhaps? Those who love the B film, though
have a new hero: Lou Vockell.
Lou Vockell, whom Joe Bob Briggs once described as 'a one man film industry', because of his workhorse style of doing everything himself, started
out in advertising, but now, thankfully, makes schlocky horror films for those that have little or no taste in films...like me!! Vockell is also responsible
for such films as Planet of the Erotic Ape, The Blonde Wench Project and the brilliantly titled Hookers in a Haunted House.
This film, The Stalking Hand tells the tale of a young man, who, after accosting the local preacher's daughter, has his hand cut off by him with a
chainsaw, a hand that want REVENGE!!!! Flash forward a year, as a group of youngsters, while having a Halloween Party, drive a young nerd, and
his blind date, the local Satanist, to call up the powers of Hell...literally, on a mobile phone, to get the assistance of the vengeance filled hand to kill
those who get in their way, but the hand is uncontrollable!!!! Can the Son of Elvis help them? (trust me, this will ALL make sense when you watch
the film)
Goofy humor, boobs, chainsaws, fart and dick jokes, 70's Doctor Who special effects and acting that comes straight out of the Linnea Quigley
School of Thespianism, The Stalking Hand is an amusing throwback to when B movies were happy to be just that. This film is no Oscar deserving
piece of genius filmmaking, and those that love great acting, amazing sets and big movie stars will absolutely abhor it, but if you loved films like
Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Creepozoids or Slave Girls from Beyind Infinity, you will probably get a laugh out of this film, even if it dosen't
quite get up to the quality of even those films.
This DVD has three photo galleries, presented as slideshows. One is promotional shots of the cast, the second is from the set, and the last is a
series of pictures from the first day of shooting. There are also 6 audio interviews with cast members, that are played over similar slideshows to
the ones mentioned. Not a great deal of extras on this disc, but the interviews with the cast are entertaining.

STALKING HAND: A SCARY MOVIE is another in the burgeoning genre of horror-comedy films. After a priest lops off the hand of a young man who tried to make advances to his daughter, that same hand becomes a murderous menace. It shows up years later at a Halloween party, devising gory and goofy ways of knocking off the guests. With blood, suspense, fart jokes, and the son of Elvis, STALKING HAND is a must for fans of horror-comedy.
