Undead is now one of my favourite zombies films of all time and i have to say its right up there with Peter Jacksons Brain Dead and all of the
George Romero's dead films. The Speirig brother's really pulled it off with a genus new story line and the special/visual effects is just mind blowing.
Undead is not just your average horror flick, its also a comedy/sci-fi with a hell of a lot of Australian humor thrown into it, kinda like Brain Dead i
guess you can say. But what i love the most about the movie is, are the way they designed the zombies, which are way better looking than most
of the zombie movies i have ever watched. There eyes are more sunken into their skulls and their eyes have that hazy white glaze, and unlike
other zombie movies where their faces look like they were painted by a bunch of preschool kids.

Undead quiclky starts off very strong, when a meteor shower rains down on a little country town in Australia called Berkley, and for those who are
unlucky to get smashed by a meteor, their corpses are instantly reanimated back to life as a flesh eating zombie. It doesn't take them long to
begin feasting on who family and friends near by or any local towns person they can get there dead flesh hands upon. But only a handful of
survivors find their way to a old farm house to take shelter from the acid rain that comes hours after the meteor shower and most of all to seek
shelter from the
Undead wandering though the town. This is where Rene (Felicity Mason) and Marion (Mungo McKay) meet up and soon teams up
with 2 police officers Molly (Emma Randall) an Harrison (Dirk Hunter), an a crop duster pilot named Wayne (Rob Jenkins) and his pregnant girlfriend
Sallyanne (Lisa Cunningham). As the six of them, try to figure out what the hell is going on they decide all stick together an try to stay alive and
find a way to get out of the town before there next on the menu.

The acting is funny as hell, i have to say actor Dirk Hunter who played the character officer Harrison had me in stitcher's right to he died, those who
find the Aussie slang hard to understand will probably find this character hard to understand at times and somewhat just plain annoying. Actor
Mungo McKay character Marion is really laid back, it did felt he has done all this movie before, but at times i felt his character was a tad too much
like a Clint Eastwood from a old western movie in certain parts of the movie, just the way he spoke and how he carried his character. Actress
Felicity Mason who played Rene also did a awesome roll with her character, at the beginning she was quiet and a loner and towards the end of the
movie you can see her character becoming stronger and not afraid to kick a bit of zombie ass. Its great to see movies where a women is not afraid
to kick ass on screen and look good at doing it.

The gore factor is fairly off the charts. The Speirig brothers also added in some amazing visual effects which spruced  up the film is a great way. It
was also great to see they weren't scabby with the blood splatter thats for sure. Literally blood was sprayed from across the room to the camera,
zombies getting there heads shot off and torn in half with a 3 barrel shotgun, and the zombies had there day also with the towns people in
Berkley with a zombie punching a old girl in the head while its fist pops through the back of her skull before it begins to chow down on her brains.
also their is a scene where a drunk dude gets his head knocked off at the start of the movie and blood begins to piss out of his stumpy neck. And
not to mention the bite wounds look so fucking realistic which gave the film the seal of approval the most. Gorehounds you have nothing to worry,
the Speirig brothers have got you covered in the gore factor.

But when it comes to the ending of
Undead it can leave you wondering "What the fuck just happened" and you feel the story just went walkabout
by turning from a zombies movie to a more of a alien invasion movie. But that is not to worry, it does infact make a lot of sense at the very end.
The story will draw you right into the movie and at times you will find yourself on the edge of your seat wandering whats going to happen next.

Undead will never gets boring for me and i can see myself watching this many times in the near future. The Speirig brothers have created one of
the most original zombies films of all time, it's a  zombie movie every horror fan will definitely enjoy and most of all proud to own on DVD, i really
hope these brothers stick with it and create many more zombie movies in the future. But i personally will be keeping my eye out for all of their
future movies thats for sure.

Undead gets the 2 thumbs up from me, and if you havent yet seen this film, don't bother renting it just go and purchase the DVD right away. If
your a hardcore zombie fan, this movie has been shot just for you. There is without a doubt this movie will soon be classified as a worldwide cult
classic in about 10 years time.
