Let me just start off by saying that this is the hardest review I have ever had to do. Why, you may ask? How do you write a decent size review
about a 7 minute short film?
Fortunately, that is the hardest part about it, as Sam Thompson has created quite a cool “mini film” here. The whole movie takes place in a
restaurant where 2 young couples are having a double date. One of the couples appears to have been together for a while and have set up their
two friends for a date. Problem is, both of them are very nervous geeks and the male of the pair (we don’t find out any of their names) accidentally
spills a drink and heads to the restroom to clean up.
While having a piss on top of the urinal cakes provided in the urinals, the cakes seem to come to life as one jumps up and bites the guy’s dick off!
Another two jump out and start biting chunks out of him, before he falls and nastily smashes his teeth on the sink!
Trying to find out what is taking so long, the guy’s date goes in looking for him, only to see blood pissing out of where his dick used to be and a big
pressure blast sprays her in blood. The girl then goes back into the restaurant, covered in blood, and says the best line in the movie, “I have to
umm go home and….wash my hair!”
The other couple goes in to see what happened and the urinal cakes are released into the restaurant….
Like a bastard offspring of The Deadly Spawn & Killer Condom, this is B grade silliness at its best! Even though it has such a short running time,
Urine Trouble is still a pretty impressive short film, especially in the gore department! Any of the gore effects would look at home in one of Fulci’s
masterpieces (especially the head bashing the sink), and one can’t help but wonder if the boys could have the same successful result if this was to
be turned into a full length feature (which, according to the crew interviews, a script is being written).
The DVD also has a few interesting extras to make it worth your purchase dollar. The extras include an audio commentary by the killer urinal cakes
themselves (stupid, but funny, it’s just a collection of grunts and noises that sound a lot like farts), crew interviews (with Sam Thompson getting a
haircut while being interviewed, and the DP fucking off in his car because he cracked the shits and doesn’t want to talk!), a homemade beer
commercial (about the dangers of pissing on urinal cakes!) and a poster gallery.
All in all, Urine Trouble is an excellent way to kill 7 minutes and has piqued my interest enough to keep an eye on Sam Thompson to see what he
will come up with next….
