Before I got chance to see Versus a lot of people had compared this to Junk, well let me say the only comparison is that both movies are more or
less shot in the same location, oh and the zombies.. This is one hell of an action packed film!
Two escaped prisoners are on the run in a forest located somewhere in Japan where they meet up with a gang that helped their escape, its not
long before all hell breaks loose as they argue over a girl the gang has kidnapped, one of gang members is killed but suddenly returns back to life
and you guessed it as a zombie. His fellow prisoner killed, our hero escapes back into the forest with the kidnapped girl pursued by the remaining
gang but things turn even worse as the buried corpses that the gang has killed soon come back to life!
There are 666 portals to the 'other side' the Forest of Resurrection where the story is set is the 444th. Once the blood starts spilling our hero,
known only as prisoner KSC2 303 and the rescued female hostage must fight for their lives and escape form the forest not only chased by the
zombies, yakuza gang, the two cops who were transporting the prisoners (one has the hugest gun you have ever seen) but now also the leader
of the yakuza who we briefly see at the start of the film turns out to be immortal! He needs the blood of the girl to be able to open the portal.
Considering this film was made on quite a low budget one of the many things that are striking about this film is the amount of action, every few
minutes and almost in every set scene there is a fight, gunfights (lots), sword fights, hand to hand its all here, and because of the backdrops are
simply forest you can see the stunning action sequences more clearly, and again for the amount of budget these are some of the best I have seen,
even the dead come back to life with guns!
This is one high octane film which moves along quite quickly, one thing to note about Versus is none of the characters are called by their names,
Prisoner KSC2-303, the girl, one handed cop for example are all that's listed in the credits, some might find this a bit confusing, especially if it's the
subbed version (which I'm reviewing), which I'm lead to believe is considerably much better than the dubbed release.
Versus has a great soundtrack, very well suited to this action type of film, special effects are great with lots of blood and gore film there's some
great comic moments to enjoy too! Try not to follow the plot too closely just relax and enjoy the great action sequences, Versus probably wont
make much sense at first, and more than likely not till the end of the film!

Deep within the mysterious Forest of Resurrection, a spectacular battle between good and evil has gone on since the dawn of time. When Prisoner KSC2-303 escapes from a maximum security facility, he enters the forest, believing it will lead him to safe haven. Instead, he finds himself a pawn in an endless struggle played out across multiple temporal planes of existence. His opponent: a mysterious man who seemingly cannot be killed. The battle to be waged: Good versus Evil in the pursuit of a beautiful woman who holds the key to eternal life. What Prisoner KSC2-303 cannot remember is whether or not he is the personification of good or the very essence of darkness.
