War of the Dead
DVD/APPROX. 88 MINS/2006/USA R18+
Weird attacks are occurring in the United States of America, where for some strange reason old World War II veterans are being tracked down and
murdered, eaten alive by a trio of Nazi zombies, who have came back from the dead to seek revenge on the old war veterans. Special Agent
Conda (Camille Djokoto), who is a member of the mysterious vanguards, has taken over this unusual case and hopes to save the last remaining
veterans from being torn to shreds.
What can I say about Sean Cisterna's War of the Dead? Not much really to tell you the truth. There isn’t hardly any gore or blood in this film, and
it’s not like other zombie films you have seen. Let me try to describe War of the Dead - it’s like taking Oasis of the Dead and Masters of Horror
Homecoming and mixing the two while smoking a bad batch of crack. It has a slow building storyline, shitty "and I mean shitty" acting, the special
effects were so terrible to watch, and the dialogue (laughs)?! I felt like smashing my head against the wall and then licking the clarrot off the walls.
I know this is a low budget film, and it was good to see director Sean Cisterna actually giving filmmaking ago, but War of the Dead just didn't do it
for me. I can handle watching low budget horror films, but I found myself fast forwarding the movie far too many times and checking how long the
film had left to go.
The zombies, "well if you want to call them zombies," didn't even look dead, they actually looked like they just returned from boot camp, but before
heading home they stopped by McDonald’s and ordered a few burgers and forgot to wipe the tomato sauce from their mouths while they still had
camoflague paint on their faces.
If you are a fan of zombie films, this is one film I warn you to stay away from; don't be tricked by the title or even the cover. And if you don't care
what I have to say about this film and still want to take a stab at it, I suggest you try renting it first before turning over your hard working dole
cash for this film. That’s if it makes its way to the video shop shelves.
