Wedding Trough
VHS/APPROX. 80 MINS/1974/BELIGUM NOT RATED
Wedding Trough, (aka The Pig Fucking Movie, One Man and His Pig). The story is about an unusual man, a farmer on some secluded property,
who seems to have a thing for his female pig/sow, and in fact he is in love with it. He plays with it, caresses it, and one thing leads to the other
and he ends up fucking it and impregnating her. The result is that she gives birth to slightly deformed piglets (hybrids). Being the father, he tries to
care for them and bond and everything, but the piglets prefer the mother to him. So he hangs all the piglets up by there neck, leaving the mother
to sadly see them like this. She nods them a bit, realises they’re dead then she stops and stares into the eyes of the man who is just standing
there, then starts running around squealing agonisingly, and finally dies. The pig was the love of his life, and he’s now lost her.
I found it to be pretty good and wasn’t bored for a second. It had a great atmosphere and his own environment was great, the film really gets his
world across to you. It reminded me of the bloke’s room in Eraserhead, with that pot plant. Quite interesting. There is not a word spoken in the
film, it only consists of farm noises and eerie music, and it’s shot in a shoddy black and white which along with the crap quality of the VHS, only
added to the atmosphere. The eerie sound effects and camera work makes for a very surreal film.
There are some great moments I thought, like where he is trying to have a civilised meal with the 3 piglets at his dinner table, each piglet having
its own little bowl to drink from, equally spaced apart, but the damn pigs just don’t have manners and wont stay at there post. So whilst trying to
eat his meal, he is constantly picking up the piglets and putting them back in there position. That is one scene I really enjoyed, there are any more.
Now this bloke, he’s a fucking weirdo. One thing he enjoys doing is fitting old dolls heads on the heads of birds (after which the pig cops a bit of a
feel of him). He also cuts the head off a chicken with a straight blade razor on a table with what seems to be a pile of bird parts and feathers, and
stuffs some of it into a jar. He likes his jars; he’s got a shelf full of em with more bird parts and materials and fuck knows what else. So it’s not
surprising when he starts eating his own shit for the last 15 minutes. Good old sick turn the films takes, it was great but fucking seedy as it comes.
He eats this shit straight from the toilet, or scoops hand fulls from his jars, he boils it in a kettle. They aren’t really solid shits either (apart from
when he eats from the toilet), its thick shaky stuff. Its bloody successful in making anyone that watches it groan.
There is reason behind it, and its quite interesting what happens during the film, some people find the film repulsive, fair enough not there kind of
thing. You can’t really be impatient either, the scenes are drawn out and it’s fairly slow moving. Along the lines of Eraserhead, if that bored you
then this will bore the absolute shit out of you. Not me though, I was interested and I found the film left open to some interpretation with what
exactly is going on with him during the last third. The pig isn’t the only one getting some cock on his property too, there a few times where
chickens having sex are used as a junction for two scenes. Ah, good touch I reckon.
The films fucked up enough for anyone who likes, well, fucked up films to get some enjoyment. It has its similarities to Eraserhead, surface wise
that is, obviously like the deformed babies being one, pacing. It’s a pretty cool movie worth a watch, or two if you’re keen enough.
