The movie begins with a young man named Ace (Masashi Endô) who happens to idolize a rock-n-roll band called Guitar Wolf. Luckily for them Ace
manages to save the band from the night club owner who attempted to end all 3 musicians lives ( Guitar Wolf (Seiji), Bass Wolf (Billy) and Drum
Wolf (Toru) )  backstage after a live gig. Guitar Wolf hands him a whistle and if he is ever in a life or death situation, he is to blow into the whistle if
he ever needs help, but most of all they make him an honorary blood brother. Once the band rides off into the night on their motorbikes, that
following night the earth becomes overrun by Aliens whose game plan is to resurrect the dead back to life and devour all human life so they can
drain the earth of its natural resources. Ace soon finds himself trapped by the horde of the living dead and quickly blows into his whistle, and  it’s
not long after the trio comes back, but packing ready to kick some zombie/alien ass and put a end to the alien invasion but most of all allow
ROCK-N-ROLL to live on forever.

Wild Zero is one warped but very interesting cult classic film I have ever seen to come out of Japan. A few years back I wasn’t too keen to watch
any zombie films from any other country, because they would have to contain English subtitles making it hard to have to read and watch a film at
the same time. But I heard all this talk on the Internet about another zombie film called Junk which is directed by Atsushi Muroga, and that
honestly changed my whole outlook on watching movies from other countries. I soon found myself tracking down, searching and buying up other
films that everyone was talking about. Then I finally came across Wild Zero, which at times had me wondering “what the hell is going on in here!”
while I pick up my jaw off the ground with the mind blowing special/visual effects I was witnessing for the first time. You have to realize that when
watching any films from Japan their style in cinema can be very spiritual and wacky to us westerners. But here’s the thing, this film is not just a
average gory zombie film, it’s also a 90 minute documentary which I believe is targeted for us westerners to kind of know a bit more about the
actual band Guitar Wolf (who supposedly are quiet popular in Japan) and perhaps help increase record sales and tours internationally. Guitar Wolf’
s second album is actually this movie, so the whole score (soundtrack) is their second album. Which is pretty cleaver when you think about it? But
its nothing to worry about, cause frankly the band do actually sound pretty cool, apart from the fact their appearance kind of reminded me of the
T Birds from the movie
Grease (oiled up hair, leather jackets, white socks, motorbikes) meets the punk band The Misfits if you get the drift.

All the cast did a fantastic job with the roles of their characters, though sometimes I kind of giggled at times to myself, which some of the stuff they
said or done. The band Guitar Wolf probably were the ones in my eyes who stole the spotlight, watching them play live in the nightclub, and
listening to their songs for the first time I will never forget. With fire shooting out of there microphones, dark shaded sunglasses and the cool
catchy riffs they came up with just drew me deeper into the band. Hell an hour later I was surfing the net reading up on the band, and listening to
a few of their tracks. But most of all you have nothing to worry about with the cast- they’re all enjoyable to view.

The gore factor is very nice guys. If you haven’t seen this film yet, and enjoy watching zombies ripping out the intestines, arms, legs heads or
throats of helpless human victims then this film is for you. The zombies make up effects are not so hot looking, you can notice the face paint and
black rings around the eyes, but if you just sit back and shut off your brain, then you’ll enjoy this film for what it is meant to be, you'll be amazed
how cool this film actually is.

The score is basically all Guitar Wolf material, to get an idea what these guys really sound like just head over to their official website
www.guitarwolf.net and listen to a few of their tracks.

Wild Zero has finally been released by our local distributor and sponsor Madman Entertainment for the first time ever on region 4 DVD. Sadly the
extra department doesn’t have too much to offer only a theatrical trailer, music video (with behind the scenes footage), picture gallery and an
awesome drinking game. But on the plus side the artwork pisses all over the R1 version, which has been released for a number of years now.
Though the best feature I have to give props for Madman Entertainment is giving us a reversible printed cover, which allows us to piss off that ugly
rating tag that is located on the DVD Artwork. On the inside you will have the same artwork design, but they deleted the rating label which is a
bonus (just check out the DVD Cover Art option above). Cause personally, I can’t stand looking at the covers of region 4 DVDs, and honestly it
turns me away from buying them. Now when you purchase this DVD, you have the option to flip and change the artwork.

I highly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys watching zombie films.
Wild Zero would definitely be my 4th favourite zombie film from Japan,
before those two I also recommend you track down these other three titles
Junk, Versus and Bio Zombie, which you also can’t go wrong with.
